339/365: Silver Falls Colorado
Getting to Silver Falls was quite the adventure. After trying first on our own with the little PT Cruiser and almost getting stuck in the mud, we than went when on a guided tour and in a 4×4 off-road vehicle. The road to the falls was dirt/mud/ice and made for some interesting times of which we almost got stuck in huge ice and water puddles that at times came up half way to the door of the Jeep. The hike up to the falls wasn’t too difficult, but did have a big elevation jump. Once at the falls, they are breathtaking… half frozen and half flowing the scenery just leaves you in awe. It was a beautifully clear day and the sky was a dark dark blue which made for a wonderful contrast against the white of the falls.
After climbing down from Silver Falls someone in our group mentioned they saw Mountain Lion tracks.. I’m glad this was mentioned after returning to safety and I will always wonder if he was up that tree!
