“when words become unclear, i shall focus with photographs. when images become inadequate, i shall be content with silence.” — Ansel Adams
we took some time to stop for lunch at a less crowded area of the park. this is the Cerro Castellan area of Big Bend National Park (looking towards Tuff Canyon). the layers visible reveal millions of years of volcanic events. the white pockets on the right are volcanic ash. follow the road and find the white car for size reference.
the sun was in and out of the clouds creating pockets of shadows contrasting nicely against the white cloudy sky.
while shooting this location a few hikers came by and asked if I saw a big horn sheep which they had watched walk around the corner of a mountain pass… unfortunately I was not able to find the sheep.🐑
