Lasso the snow

Texas is experiencing show this week.  But today the snow seems to be drifting a bit to the south of the DFW area.  When this was told to Josh, I asked him to Lasso the snow up North so we could have some. He explained:

My Lasso is broken.  Seems like we won’t get any today.

A Love > Toys

Joshua had a profound realization this past weekend. I must say maybe it was more profound to Gwenn and I. He approached us very gently, placed his hand on our cheeks and said:

I love you more then my toys!

For a 4.5 year old little boy.  This is huge.  He is such a cutie-pie!

cutting in line

This mornings conversation with Dear Son involved learning about why we do not cut in line.  Seems Dear Son always thought the space other children left in the line was space specifically left for HIM and for him alone!  Gwenn went on to explain the purpose of personal space and how superhero’s can work best from the back of the line due to increased vision of those in need.

We’ll see how this goes…

Batman aka Dear Son

Over the last week Batman has moved into our house, you should know Batman has assumed a new alias: Dear Son.  Every morning he wakes up and asks,

“Can I put on my Batman costume?”

Depending on if he has to go to school of not, the answer is usually:

“Yes.”

Batman, aka Dear Son, now watches TV with us, eats dinner with us, walks the dogs with us and most wonderfully before we walk into any room – checks for Bad Guys.  Should they exist he is sure to clear out the room and make it safe.  I am glad to have Batman on my side.

I wish I was a little bit taller

Recently Dear Son has become infatuated with growing taller.  Last Saturday morning when he awoke, he came into our bedroom and the following conversation occured:

Son: Look how much taller I am?
Us: what?!?
Son: Can you tell, I grew much taller in my sleep… Overnight?
Us: OH WOW, look at you.
Son: I know, look how much TALLER I AM!!!
Us: I KNOW, WOW! How did you get so tall, just overnight?
Son: I slept really GOOD and now LOOK how tall I am…

These types of conversations are now occurring frequently after each nap or in the morning when he awakes.  It truly is precious.  I am really starting to get convinced he is growing taller!

the other day our family was eating dinner and our Dear Son whom is almost three and a half asked if he could have dessert.  Of course he hadn’t eaten hardly any of his veggies or meal so the answer was “you first need to clean your plate.” Dear Son looked at me and asked, “can i have a napkin?”

it took us a while, but we finally figured out when we said to him “clean his plate” he took it in the litterial sense of cleaning.  it was quite cute and we all got a good hardy laugh out of it.

to see life again through the eyes of a child growing up and adventuring, learning, experimenting and loving is an amazing journey my family is just beginning and i’m thrilled and passionate to wake each day to learn what will be next.

do you have a story through the eyes of a child?
